On the road to Monterano

Roughly 70 km away from Rome, going North, lays an ancient and nowadays abandoned village called Monterano.

It is very close to its modern version, Canale Monterano, where I took only one picture, the bell tower that you see at the beginning of this post.

I was waiting for Manja, by now my “complice in crime”! She is one of the few person that I know who is always available to get and leave to discover the world, dive into new adventures with a positive mindset that took her to create a huge list of places to visit!

I like to think it is true, that the best has yet to come, that despite all the good or bad things we have come across in life, as long as we live we will always have the opportunity to make something good, something different, something amazing.

We change with the world and even if we don’t see it we have an uncountable number of opportunities waiting for us. To make it short, the contagious enthousiasme of Manja took me to Monterano. We were walking for miles into the wild nature and almost abandoned paths.

We have crossed a very few signs of civilization on our way but it has been sooooo relaxing!

Just in these days I had a chat with another blogger, Olga, about the way we perceive the same reality.

I have always thought that the reality could be only one, I was aware of the fact that we can have different version of the same episode but I naively thought there could be an exception with photography.

I used to tell myself that you take and shoot the same subject so, despite of having different cameras with different settings, the result must be roughly the same.

Now I know that I couldn’t be more distant from the truth!

Somehow our perception plays a role also in what could have been an “absolute” reality but apparently there is no way, no exception allowed… So this is my personal version of Monterano and the street that led us there!

Get ready, tomorrow I will show you our destination!

    It’s always fascinating to see photos by various photographers of the same event. I like it how you and I sometimes stop to take photo of the same thing at the same time. 🙂 To me this means that we are similar in some way. That the results are different can only be a plus. You usually get much closer to your subject, I watch from afar. As for different realities, I still think it’s only one. 🙂 It’s us and our eyes that are different.

    But this day – to have photos from it is only a bonus. I’d love it even without any cameras.

    1. I think the reality is still the same but our perspective is different and, all of a sudden, it is just like there were more realities, multiplied as per the number of the observers

  2. I followed both your links. Mexi I have met before through the challenges, and I’m glad you’ve found a kindred spirit. Olga kept me spellbound for a long while. I wish that I had that kind of talent. Thanks for introducing me. 🙂 🙂

    1. You are very welcome Jo ☺️ They have been such a nice surprise to me. One starts blogging for a bunch of reasons but frankly I would have never expected to meet someone out of this platform or creating such a good dialogue. I feel grateful for their acquaintance ☺️

          2. I met Norman, the Thursday Doors man, in flash and blood! 😀 Liz (who is coming over) I met online before I started to blog. But I’m willing this second to meet at least 20 bloggers if not more if they decide to come over. Flavia, we should organise a grand bloggers’ meeting in Itay!! 😉

    1. Yes. Absolutely! I have included Manja’s link because she took different photos and I have loved all of them. To me it looked almost like a different place so it was a complement of information you could not miss! 😊
